The main thing you can do with Folder Security is lock and hide folders; a wizard will help you lock a folder with a password or hide a folder with a password. On top of this main functionality, Folder Security has a bit of extra functionality to offer: block access to applications, block access to websites, hide drives, lock your system with a USB drive, and more.

Folder Security will work on PCs powered by 32 as well as 64-bit Windows editions – that would be 32 and 64-bit versions of Windows 7 or Windows 8.

The locked folders are presented as a list on the application’s interface. Above this list there are nice big buttons that you can use to add more folders to the list, remove folders from the list, refresh the list, and more. Access to Folder Security is password protected – this means that the interface will be displayed only if the correct password is provided. The first time you run Folder Security, you will be invited to pick the master password that will protect access to the application.

As mentioned above, the folders you locked are presented as a list on the application’s interface, and at the top there’s a button that allows you to add more folders to the list. When you click the Add button, you will be presented with a wizard that will help you lock a folder with a password or hide a folder with a password.

Also as mentioned above, Folder Security has a bit of extra functionality to offer. From the Tools menu, you can access the following features: block applications, block websites, hide drives, associate folders with a drive letter, change the drive icon, hide text, hide content (certain files or sub-folders in a folder), hide a user account, lock the system with a USB drive, block USB ports, prevent data copying to USB drives, mask (lock a specific file type).

Folder Security is free to use for a trial period of 15 days.

Lock or hide a folder with a password – that’s the main thing you can do with Folder Security. The very nice thing about this application is that it has some very useful extra functionality to offer.

Pros

Folder Security provides support for 32 and 64-bit Windows editions; Windows 7 and Windows 8. A wizard will help you lock or hide a folder with a password. You’ll find some useful extra functionality in the Tools menu. Access to Folder Security is password protected.

Cons

15-day trial; nag screen; spelling mistakes on the interface.
